DWSD (District Whole School Development) Model Advocacy Webinar
Kagiso Trust’s Education Pillar launched and implemented the Beyers Naudé Schools Development Programme (BNSDP) in 2004. During the period 2009 to 2015, the programme developed into a structured and model design of a Whole School Development model, which the DWSD Model Advocacy Webinar on Embedding Change in the Education System in South Africa; from planning to action, will discuss the development, progress and success of the model.

Programme Director:
Sizakele Mphatsoe
Mrs Mphatsoe is the Education Head at Kagiso Trust. She holds a BED hons degree in Education, training and development from the University of Johannesburg. She has 18 years of teaching experience and has taught in a number of schools and has held management positions as the head of the department and the Deputy Principal. During her teaching years, Sizakele has also been an active member and in leadership positions in organised labour unions.
Sizakele is also a facilitator. She facilitates team-building workshops for the schools that they work with. She also liaises with the District management in coordinating the interventions, including managing stakeholders. Her passion for education is evident in how she treats people. She believes that everyone has aspirations and listens to people’s voices without discrimination/ prejudice.
Sizakele is currently doing a Practitioner Certificate in Coaching Psychology (Post-Graduate).
Sizakele’s areas of expertise include:
- Team building facilitation
- Strategic development
- Drawing and managing budget
- Project management
- Problem-solving skills
Speaker Bio’s:
Papi Makola
Has more than 30 years in Education. He qualified as a high school Maths/Science teacher at Mokopane College of Education. Served as a teacher, HoD and Deputy Principal. Held the following positions in the Gauteng Department of Education:
- Circuit Team Manager – Benoni Area in Ekurhuleni North District,
- Chief Education Specialist – e-Learning and Curriculum Support Programmes
- Deputy Chief Education Specialist – E Learning
- Deputy Chief Education Specialist – Physical Sciences
And currently a District Director responsible for Sekhukhune East District (Limpopo Province),
Mr Makola is Passionate about the improvement of lives, especially those of young people.
Dr Romulus Asaph Mogofe
Dr Mogofe is an educator and academic deeply passionate about the Education (Science) field. With a PhD in Education from Nelson Mandela University, he has dedicated over 20 years of my life to teaching Physical Sciences. Currently, he is serving as an acting principal at Makhwese Secondary School. In addition to my role as a school principal, he is also a part-time Teaching Assistant (TA) at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
There is nothing more that excites Dr Mogofe about the endless possibilities education holds. He is committed to making a difference in the lives of those he encounters on this educational journey. Furthermore, he believes that together, we can create a brighter future through the power of knowledge.

- Educator – Reebone Technical Commercial School in North West teaching Accounting.
- Educator – Goronyane High School in Thaba Nchu teaching Business Studies.
- Educator – Excelsior High School in Excelsior teaching Accounting, Business Studies and Commercial Mathematics.
- Departmental Head of Commerce- RT Mokgopa High School in Thaba Nchu
- Deputy Principal- Refihletse Combined School in Verkeerdevlei
- Deputy Principal- Bartimea School for The Deaf and Blind in Thaba Nchu

Currently, he is the Principal at Leratong Secondary School in Botshabelo. In his list of achievements, he has obtained 100% in Accounting in successive years at RT Mokgopa, achieved between 85% and 94,8% in matric results as a principal at Senzile and Leratong Secondary School respectively and has represented the South African Principals Association at African Confederation of Principals in Mombasa, Kenya.
Mr Mogofeis dedicated to serving his learners so that they become good citizens of South Africa.
