BNSDP Project Manager

Job Purpose

To coordinate, manage and monitor the implementation of the programmes/ projects in schools from inception to completion with budget and on time, and ensure they are delivered effectively, efficiently, and within scope.

To manage from planning and budgeting to execution and evaluation, and while collaborating with various stakeholders, including educators, learners, district officials, and external partners.  To measure progress against the outputs and targets

 

Project Execution

  • Identify the service provider to implement the intervention programme and propose them to the District Manager for endorsement.
  • Set target baseline for the schools and service providers.
  • Together with the school and service provider develop a programme plan including dates and time for training (afternoons, Saturday or during school holidays).
  • Involve the relevant subject advisor or department to ensure the intervention is in line with the DoE curriculum statements
  • Conduct advocacy sessions for the model elements with circuit managers Induction of the Management Team and relevant stakeholders about the intervention programme
  • Ensure the school contract is completed and a detailed programme plan is submitted to all relevant stakeholders
  • Plan, schedule and monitor schools for the empowerment and transformation workshops (retreat).
  • Conduct school visits to support and follow up on plans
  • Identify suitable venues for training and hosting programme related events
  • Use database for planning and execution

Quality Control

  • Monitor and measure the quality of the intervention programme using the relevant monitoring tool (MERL).
  • Measure expenditure against the budget to ensure adherence.
  • With assistance of the SMT, solve challenges on commitment and attendance of educators and learners to the programme
  • Order equipment and material relevant for the programme.
  • Ensure that service provider issue points towards continuous development for including certificates for all training completed\

Project Management

  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of programme.
  • Implement systems for tracking and evaluating project outcomes to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop the implementation plan
  • Compile profile of all educators supported
  • Manage project budget utilisation.
  • Maintain proper budget reports.
  • Manage the delivery of projects according to project plan and base line targets.
  • Review and update timelines plans if, and when necessary.

Reporting

  • Compile monthly or quarterly reports as per agreement with the District manager.
  • Complete the monitoring tool when attending training programmes.
  • Administer the monitoring output tool and the demographics tool.
  • Ensure attendance registers are in place for all training/ events

Other

  • Encourage community participation on projects.
  • Compile a detailed profile for the school and community.
  • Encourage and manage volunteerism in school.
  • Plan and manage events when necessary.
  • Filing of all project related documents.

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

Formal Qualification/Degree 

  • Diploma in Education, BA or BSC degree in education or Social science degree.

Work Experience

  • Relevant experience in working with schools, NGO’s, education sector and communities
  • Valid driver’s license with driving experience

Job Related Knowledge

  • Expert understanding of education frameworks
  • Strong development policy appreciation, particularly in education
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
  • Excellent understanding of financial processes and controls
  • Knowledge of educational systems and policies, curriculum development, and instructional leadership.
