Our local governance solution empowers municipalities by improving their functionality using diverse data sets. Data sets provide a factual basis for making decisions. By analysing various data or information, municipalities can identify trends, allocate resources more effectively, and plan for future needs. This approach benefits the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The Collaborative Governance Model Overview
At the core of the Local Government Support Programme lies the Collaborative Governance Model, designed to catalyse transformative change within municipalities across South Africa. The Collaboration Model aims to facilitate radical collaboration between the municipality and its community towards local socio-economic development.
Model Elements
A contextual understanding of locality: Data Access, Local Issues, Attitudes, Priorities, Relationships – all providing local stakeholders with better understanding of their local complexity to enable good thinking and appropriate planning.
A coherent municipality (political and administration)- authentically committed to radical collaboration, improved responsiveness to community centricity, improve performance and culture for transformation.
More structured, inclusive and organised a-political civil coalition committed to collaborate with the municipality to achieve the change they desire.
A sound inclusive governance environment that is community centric and geared to enabled to promote socio economic development.

Established in 2011, Kagiso Trust’s Leverage Fund provides essential financial support to NPOs through a match funding approach. Understanding the challenges faced by NPOs at the community level, we have refined our civil society programmes over the years to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of these organisations. Through these efforts, we amplify our mission, igniting capacity for a vibrant and engaged civil society that supports and drives sustainable development.
Our approach to supporting civil society goes beyond financial assistance. We provide comprehensive support that encompasses our core pillars of education development, socio-economic development, institutional capacity building, and financial sustainability.
By collaborating with organisations like SANGONeT and SANGOCO, we address critical challenges faced by NGOs, enhancing their capacity, governance, and sustainability. These partnerships enable us to pool resources and expertise, driving more impactful and sustainable development efforts.
